Born on August 15, 1952, in the vibrant Cebu City, Philippines, Master Choa emerged from a prosperous Chinese lineage steeped in business. Yet, his heart was destined for a spiritual journey.
From a tender age, while other children played, he found solace in the pages of books, often so engrossed that he missed meals. His mother, recognizing his unique spirit, would bring his food to his sanctuary of knowledge.
His fascination with spiritual figures like St. Francis of Assisi and St. Theresa de Avila set him apart from his siblings. Master Choa was not just a child but a precocious seeker, devouring countless texts on healing and esoteric wisdom, considering himself a living encyclopedia. This insatiable curiosity and relentless quest for knowledge defined his remarkable path through life.
In his transformative young adult journey, he encountered extraordinary men who became his first spiritual guides. Under the mentorship of Mang Dabon, Mang Nenet, and Mang Mike, he was able to connect with his Sat Guru, the revered Mahaguruji Mei Ling, also popularly known as Buddha Padmasambhava.
“Maha” signifies Great, “Guru” means Teacher, and “Ji” reflects respect – together, Mahaguruji stands for the Respected Great Spiritual Teacher. One of his mentors foresaw his future role in disseminating spiritual wisdom.
While pursuing his studies at university, he didn’t fully grasp the significance of this calling. In fact, he admits that had he known the magnitude of his mission, the daunting task might have deterred him from embracing his destiny.
However, with the wisdom and patience of Mahaguruji Mei Ling and his devoted disciples, Grand Master Choa was gently guided and prepared to fulfil his sacred dharma.
As an Author
As a visionary author, Grand Master Choa has penned 27 transformative books on Pranic Healing and spirituality. His groundbreaking work, Miracles Through Pranic Healing, launched the Pranic Healing® movement in 1984 and has since been translated into 27 languages! Grand Master Choa believes humanity is on the verge of a profound shift in consciousness.
His passion for writing is matched only by his commitment to teaching.
In 1988, he established the Institute for Inner Studies Inc. to spread the teachings of Pranic Healing® across the Western Hemisphere, followed by the World Pranic Healing Foundation in 1990 to extend these healing practices to Third World countries.
In under two decades, Master Choa has empowered Pranic Healing Trainers who lead programs and manage healing centers worldwide.
